Project Description

As part of my role as Graphic Design Lead at Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University, I led the design and management of creative assets for the Haas Digital Global Forum—a large-scale, circular digital interface that surrounds the primary event space within Thunderbird’s global headquarters. When not programmed for Thunderbird or ASU events, the digital ring serves as a permanent brand installation, highlighting Thunderbird’s global presence through its network of regional centers around the world.

As several regional locations evolved soon after I joined the school , this project became an opportunity to rethink the default visual experience of the Global Forum. I approached the redesign with a focus on visual impact, inspiration, and global storytelling, better reflecting Thunderbird’s expanding international footprint and reinforcing its identity as a truly global institution.

Design Considerations

One of the primary challenges of this project was sourcing imagery that could authentically represent key regions and countries while maintaining visual cohesion across the full 360-degree display. Each image needed to align in color, scale, and perspective to create a continuous, seamless horizon around the Global Forum. I addressed this by carefully unifying the imagery through detailed color correction, adjustment layers, and precise masking, resulting in a smooth, cohesive composite.

To enhance visual impact, I integrated an inspirational tagline that weaves through architectural landmarks, creating depth through layered foreground and background elements. Finally, I created a custom sunset gradient for the backdrop to enrich the color palette and unify the composition.

Results

the installation looks genuinely stunning in person—its scale, depth, and color really come alive in the space and make a strong, lasting impression on visitors. I plan to use photos with the ring in our next set of digital ads.

BONUS: Below are some examples of ring graphics used at various events. I thouroughly enjoy designing these rings to fit the theme and branding of those that rent out our beautiful Global Forum!
